Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1 of Alaska Apprenticeship and Training

IMI Training CenterThe John J. Flynn BAC/IMI International Training Center is a 25-acre campus located in Bowie, Maryland.  With more than 240,000 square feet of training, classroom and office space, the two-building complex includes a two-story Training Center, and a three-story Conference Center with dorm rooms, recreation facilities, cafeteria, and meeting rooms.

The Training Center features an open bay to allow for flexible class setups. It also houses classrooms and design studios where educational programs that highlight the advantages of masonry and BAC’s commitment to quality will be available to architects, construction managers, and contractors.

The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers’ apprenticeship and training system is widely recognized for producing highly skilled craftworkers. Through Local union programs and those offered through the International Masonry Institute, BAC members and contractors have access to training opportunities unmatched in the masonry industry.

These training programs are jointly funded by labor and management through collectively bargained contributions. These contributions are evidence of BAC’s and its signatory contractors’ commitment to develop highly skilled masonry craftworkers.
