Sheet Metal Workers Local 23, Fairbanks Joint Apprenticeship Training

The Fairbanks Area Sheet Metal Apprenticeship Training program has been training sheet metal workers at the Don Dokken Training Center in Fairbanks since the mid 1960’s. Like their counterpart in Anchorage, the Fairbanks program trains sheet metal workers to fabricate, install and service heating and ventilation systems, blowpipe and industrial systems and system for other commercial facilities. Sheet metal workers may work in shops doing fabrication work or on construction sites doing installation work.

 

Fairbanks Area Sheet Metal Workers Apprenticeship Program School Facts

 

The training facility is a 5000 square foot, two-story facility located in the Aurora Subdivision in Fairbanks. The school recently expanded their classroom space to meet current demand for sheet metal worker apprentices.

The school currently employs four instructors in the program that provide both apprentice training and journeyman upgrade training. The program has doubled the number of apprentices they have trained in the last five years. The sheet metal worker apprenticeship is a four year, 8000 hour program.
